Year 6

Welcome to Eagles, Falcons & Hawks

Year 6 Spring term 2023!

Welcome to the new school year!

We hope you have all had a great first term and Christmas break and are well-rested ready for an exciting term.

This term our topic is A Grecian legacy and we will be looking at life in Ancient Greece, and the impact it has had on the modern world.  Our main text will be Who Let the Gods Out.  We will be doing lots of exciting cross-curricular activities based around this book.

In Science we will be finding out about the human body systems, nutrition and how we grow and change.  Our Art and DT will look at sketching Greek masks and making Ancient Greek vases.

We will be continuing to prepare the children for the end of year assessment (SATS) and we will be holding a mock SATs week in February. There will be further details about this closer to the time. The children should be reading and practising their spellings each evening.  Homework will continue to be set on Seesaw each Monday.

These books are read as class texts over the course of the year to encourage positive and guided discussion of the protected characteristics.  At Westfield, we strive to create an environment where children can share their opinions and ask questions.

Please continue to use our class email addresses during this time when we are unable to meet face to face (falconsclass@westfield.surrey.sch.uk; hawksclass@westfield.surrey.sch.uk; eaglesclass@westfield.surrey.sch.uk ) to contract us about anything. We appreciate all that you are doing to help us stay safe and follow the rules during drop off and pick up.

Wishing you and your children a great second term in Year 6.

Mrs Phillips   Mrs McAteer  Miss Hillier
