Welcome to Eagles, Falcons & Hawks
Welcome back! We hope that you all had a restful and relaxing summer holiday!
Year 6 is going to be the busiest year yet at Westfield! We have lots of work to do to prepare our children for their Year 6 National Tests and for life at secondary school and beyond. It is vital that all children are supported to complete their reading (this will be through Bug Club and reading books brought home), times tables (TT rockstars) and spellings. We will be communicating a lot through Marvellous me, so please make sure you are signed up. Please ask us for your code if you do not have one.
Our topic this term is ‘The World at war: in the trenches!’ We will be learning all about both world wars, with a larger focus on WW2. In our science, we will be looking at light and electricity as it links beautifully to the war and how blackouts where a necessary part. In addition to our academic work, there is lots to look forward to this term: we have Motivational Workshops in the first week back to help the children understand how best to succeed with their learning. We will also be beginning our diversity week by looking at an inspirational person – we have picked Charles Darwin. We will be looking at his scientific discoveries and how he has influenced our understanding of the natural world.
We are looking forward to working closely with parents this year. We will provide information about the upcoming National Tests (SATs) and will always be available on our class email addresses: email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
Emails will responded to during term time within school hours.
We look forward to working with you and your children during this academic year. If you have any concerns or worries about anything at all please come and talk to us so we can solve the problem together.
Wishing you and your children a great first term in Year 6!
Mrs Phillips (Hawks class), Mrs McAteer (Falcons class) and Mr Hunt (Eagles class)
