Owls

Welcome to Owls

Dear Parents,

We hope that you have all had a restful Summer holiday and made the most of being able to get out in the lovely weather!

The Year 3 team are looking forward to a really exciting Autumn term. We begin the term with our brilliant Diversity week where will be learning all about One of the Natural Wonders of the World- The Grand Canyon.

We will be looking at the history of the Grand Canyon National Park and the explorer John Wesley Powell, who “entered a world unlike anything they or any other European-Americans had ever seen.” The children will study the animals and fauna and flora that can be found in the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River.

After Diversity Week, we then look forward to starting our topic “Walk like an Egyptian.” We will be studying the geographical features of Egypt and learning about how people lived in Ancient Egyptian times. We will learn about lots such as everyday life; food and farming; Pharaohs- Tutankhamun; religious beliefs, gods and the pyramids.

We would like to remind children and parents that the children need to be reading books from Bug Club online. This will count towards them moving from one country to another as they “Read Around World.” Once they have been all the way round the world, they will then receive a prize.

We look forward to working in partnership with all of the Year 3 parents and can’t wait to get to know all of our new classes!

Have a great term!
