Beetles

Welcome to Beetles

Welcome to the Summer Term of Year 1!

We do hope you were able to have a safe and relaxing Easter break, despite these challenging times that we currently face.

Firstly, we wanted to say a huge “well done” to all the children (and parents!) for persevering with your home learning activities, we have absolutely LOVED seeing your wonderful photos! We appreciate that it can be extremely tough to juggle many different things going on at home, so please continue making your family’s safety and happiness the top priority…and any extra topic work completed along the way is a bonus! Our only ask is that you do some form of Literacy and Maths daily please, to consolidate our Year 1 skills.

Our new topic this term is ‘Kings and Queens’. A very special celebration kick-starts this term off brilliantly…The Queen’s 94th birthday! We are going to be learning some amazing facts about the British Royal Family, and also about monarchies around the world. Our new text in Literacy is a story called ‘The Queen’s Knickers’, which is fun for all the family! Other activities include royal portrait paintings in Art, preparing a fresh salad for a royal banquet in DT, famous kings and queens from the past in History and much more. We cannot wait to get started.

As well as this, we really recommend keeping active as much as possible and getting some fresh air every day. In Science, we will be focusing on carrying out a variety of super fun, practical investigations and athletics training in PE will soon wear off that energy!

We hope you enjoy your last few months in Year 1 and hopefully we will see your smiley faces again very soon. If you have any questions, concerns or worries about anything do not hesitate to contact us on our class email accounts.

Take care and keep up the hard work,

Miss Creasey
