Year 4

Welcome to Kingfishers and Woodpeckers

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! We hope that you all had a restful summer holiday and made the most of being able to get out and about in the good weather!

The Year 4 team are looking forward to an exciting term. We will begin the term with Diversity Week. During Diversity Week, we will be learning about Italy and focusing on learning about Enzo Ferrari and his life and career.

After Diversity Week, we then look forward to starting our topic on “Stone Age to Iron Age.” We will be learning about how people in the Stone Age and Iron Age lived, their inventions and we will also be creating our own cave art. There will be a Stone Age dress up day for the children.

In Science we will be looking at Electricity. The children will have the opportunity to make their own circuits and investigate what happens when a circuit is not complete.

It is vital that all children are supported in completing their reading, times tables and spellings daily at home, in addition to their weekly homework uploaded on Seesaw.

We are looking forward to working closely with parents this year. We will have some Year 4 class assemblies throughout the year alongside book looks so you can see the children’s learning throughout the year. Please try to keep up to date with Marvellous Me messages and Seesaw announcements.

If you have any concerns or worries about anything, please use the class emails so that we can work together.

This Multiplication Tables Check practice test gives a good example of the real test at the end of year 4. The MTC trial results can be downloaded and printed at the end of the test.
