Dear Parents/Carers,
A warm welcome back to everyone after a chocolate-filled Easter! We hope that you had a lovely, restful holiday! It is hard to believe that we are in our summer term already!
As our Summer term is so busy, we still have lots of learning to master, therefore it is crucial that all children continue to complete their reading, times table and spellings daily at home. Don’t forget that the school provides great and valuable online resources such as: TT Rockstars, Active Learn and Bug club. These websites can be used to practise and consolidate children’s skills across the curriculum and are especially useful with inference skills during their guided reading. All children have their individual login and password and these can be found in their reading diaries, if not please do not hesitate to contact the class teacher via class emails.
During the Summer term, we have lots of exciting curriculum content to cover. From a historical perspective we will be looking to discover more about the lives of the Romans. The material we will be covering will encompass such topics as Roman settlements, Roman Gods or deities, Roman road networks and systems, Boudicca and Hadrian’s wall, to name a few! There will be many cross-curricular links within these themes and we will be providing you all with lots of ideas for projects – which will really make this subject, come to life!
In Science, our focus will be on comparing and grouping together materials whether they are solids, liquids or gases. Then, we will be observing how materials change when heated or cooled, and we will measure/research the temperature at which this happens in degrees Celsius.
As you can see, it’s a busy, fun-filled term that will encourage learning for all the children.
