Year 4
Welcome to Kingfishers and Woodpeckers
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely, restful (and chocolate-filled!) Easter break. It’s hard to believe we are already starting our Summer Term.
This is always a busy and exciting term, with lots of important learning still to come. To support your child, please continue to encourage regular reading, times tables practice and spelling at home. All home learning is shared on Seesaw, and children have their own login details. If you need any support accessing this, please feel free to contact us via the class email – we are always happy to help.
We have lots of exciting learning planned this term. In History, we will be diving into the world of the Romans, exploring Roman settlements, gods and goddesses, road networks, Boudicca and Hadrian’s Wall. We will also be making links across our subjects and enjoying our class text, Iliona: A Young Slave’s Story, to bring this learning to life.
In Science, we will be exploring materials, looking at how they can be grouped as solids, liquids or gases. We will also investigate how materials change when heated or cooled, and begin to understand temperature and how it is measured.
It’s shaping up to be a fun, engaging and busy term, and we are really looking forward to all the learning ahead.
As always, thank you for your continued support – it really does make a difference.
Miss Beattie and Miss Townson

This Multiplication Tables Check practice test gives a good example of the real test at the end of year 4. The MTC trial results can be downloaded and printed at the end of the test.
