Welcome to Woodpeckers
We hope that you all had a restful summer holiday and are ready for the start of a new, exciting year.
The Year 4 team are looking forward to a thrilling term, which starts with Diversity week.
During Diversity Week, we will be sharing our projects on an inspirational person and the country they originate from. We have chosen Junko Tabei from Japan who is famous for being the first woman to climb Mount Everest and the first woman to scale all the major mountains of the world within her lifetime.
After Diversity Week, we then look forward to starting our topic on “Walk like an Egyptian.” We will be studying the geographical features of Egypt; everyday life; Pharaohs- Tutankhamun; religious beliefs and the pyramids. A fascinating subject! We will have an interesting workshop on the Ancient Egyptians for all of Year 3 and Year 4. Towards the end of the Autumn term, we will be celebrating both Harvest and Christmas, so look out for events to do with these festivals.
Swimming will happen throughout the year, but two classes will be starting from September. Please make sure you know when PE and swimming sessions are for your child’s class. If you do not, then please speak to the class teacher.
We look forward to working in partnership with all of the Year 4 parents.
Have a great term!
