Welcome to Robins
We hope that you have all had a restful Summer holiday and made the most of being able to get out in the lovely weather!
The Year 3 team are looking forward to a really exciting Autumn term. We begin the term with our brilliant Diversity week where will be learning all about The United States of America.
Our inspiration for this week will be Michelle Obama. We will be learning about the positive impact she has on the lives of some Americans. We will also be delving into the world of Andy Warhol and will be creating artwork inspired by his signature style.
During our French lessons, we will be sharing the projects on France that the children will have created at home. There will be prizes for the best project! We will also be looking at well-known places within France, French food, artists and famous French people.
After Diversity Week, we then look forward to starting our topic “Walk like an Egyptian.” We will be studying the geographical features of Egypt; everyday life; Pharaohs- Tutankhamun; religious beliefs and the pyramids.
As part of this topic will be having a ‘Portals to the Past’ Egyptian workshop which is a really exciting opportunity for the children. Parents are able to pay for the trip from July 2019 as you will only have one week to pay at the start of the Autumn term.
We would like to remind children and parents that the ‘Get caught reading’ competition winners will be announced in the first week back in the Autumn term. Additionally, please can we have PE kits in school from Thursday the 5th of September.
For anyone looking for some more reading inspiration, a number of books are available from the book shed and all children have access to the Bug Club website.
We look forward to working in partnership with all of the Year 3 parents and can’t wait to get to know all of our new classes!
Have a great term!
