Welcome to Caterpillars

Dear Parents

Welcome to the Summer Term of Year 2!

We hope you and your families are staying safe during these very challenging and unprecedented times. We want to say a huge well done to all the children (and parents!) for persevering with all the home learning. It has been lovely to see so many photos of all your hard work!  Please email us photos as it is lovely to see the children.

It is hard to believe that we are already in our Summer term! Where are the days going?

Our new topic this term is Kings and Queens. A very special celebration kick-starts this term off brilliantly…The Queen’s 94th birthday! We are going to be learning some amazing facts about the British Royal Family, and also about monarchies around the world. Our new Literacy text we will be reading is called ‘The Royal Nappy’ a fun book for all the family. Other activities this term include, making clay and plasticine models of the Royal Family in Art, learning about significant people such as Queen Elizabeth in History, designing and making a moving vehicle fit for a Queen in DT, as well as many more fun activities!

During this term, we still have plenty of learning to master. Therefore, it is advisable that all children continue to prioritise some English and Maths activities on a daily basis. Do not forget that the school provides great and valuable online resources such as TT RockStars, Abacus and Bug Club. These websites are useful to practise and consolidate children’s skills across the curriculum. As well as this, we really recommend keeping active as much as possible and getting some fresh air every day.

We really do hope that life returns to some semblance of normal in the coming months, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.  If you have any questions, concerns or worries about anything do not hesitate to contact us on our class email accounts.

Take care,

Mrs Banks
