Year 2

Welcome to Caterpillars and Dragonflies

Welcome back!

We hope you had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed the sunshine.

This term our topic is ‘Cracking Contraptions’ and we start by looking at Wallace and Gromit!  We will be learning about the history of transport and the inventors who made them. During this topic, we will be learning about many different ‘cracking contraptions’ in the world and making our own cracking contraption vehicle.

To support our topic this term, we will be going on a trip to Brooklands Museum.  We are looking forward to a super day seeing how transport has changed over time.  We will also be designing and making our own moving vehicles.

We will also be learning about plants and different scientists over the years.

Don’t forget that the children should be reading regularly at home.  If your child reads 5 times at home they can move their plane on our ‘Around the World’ display in school.  Reading records and books should be sent into school every Wednesday and Friday.

We are excited to get started on our new learning!

Mrs Banks and Mr Clarke

These books are read as class texts over the course of the year to encourage positive and guided discussion of the protected characteristics. At Westfield, we strive to create an environment where children can share their opinions and ask questions.
