The Chicks in Reception Classes

How Egg-citing!!

All the Reception classes were very excited when they received a special delivery of hens eggs. The eggs had to be kept warm in an incubator and after a few days tiny chicks started to peck their way out of the shell. The children watched closely as the chicks hatched and began to get used to their new surroundings. Saujak said, ‘At first the chicks looked wet and tired.’

Nilla said, ‘The chicks slept under the lamp to keep warm. They got dry and got fluffy’.

Tinashe said, ‘The chicks were noisy and jumped around a lot’.

Once the chicks were a week old the children were able to handle them, and help with looking after them.
