About Our School
Westfield is a friendly Primary School, taking pupils from 4 to 11 (Reception to Year 6). This allows greater continuity of care and less stress for parents and pupils at the end of infants (KeyStage1). For 2010/11 our estimated number on roll is 200 children, in seven class bases.
The school is positioned at the end of Bonsey Lane between the woods of Westfield Common and the Hoe Stream. The large site has extensive grounds with 2 football pitches, athletics facilities including an area for long and high jump. There is also a large hard surface playground with a range of play equipment and picnic benches. The Reception Class has a small separate playground, which it shares with ABC Pre-School.
The building is spacious and well equipped. There is a main assembly hall with full stage, also a separate dining room. We have two libraries, fiction and non-fiction, an up to date computer suite and a home economics room.
The Aims Of Our School
The school will build on the qualities and skills which parents have fostered in the child at home. From the beginning staff and governors will aim to create a caring and disciplined environment in which each child is valued as an individual.
We aim to provide the highest quality of education for all our children, in an environment that is challenging, motivating, disciplined and moral, where children can acquire the skills and knowledge appropriate to their individual needs and in line with National Curriculum requirements.
We emphasise positive attitudes to learning, which will encourage children to achieve their best in all that they do. We help all children to grow emotionally and to learn that courtesy, good manners and consideration for others are very important qualities. We hope all our children will become happy, responsible, and independent young people.
